STEP 2
(a) Print and cut out the side section. We are going to use this as a template to make 4 black side sections. A penknife is recommended to cut out the slits of the side section.
(b) Trace out the side section template on a piece of black coloured paper. We gonna need four of these.
ps : black is used for the side sections because its gonna emphasize the contrast of the animation strip
Materials

STEP 3
(a) Cut out the animation strip template
(b) Decorate however way you want!
(c) Connect the 3 strips using double-sided tape but DO NOT CONNECT THE ENDS!
Materials
- Animation strip template
- Markers
- Double-sided tape

STEP 4
Connect the tabs of the 4 side section to make a long strip.
Do not close the two ends yet!
Materials
- 4 x side section
- double sided tape
STEP 5
Paste the black side section on the black cardboard. Make sure the white base is facing up!
Tip: Tape the sides down section by section!
Materials
- Side section
- Zoetrope base
STEP 6
Now, it's coding time!
STEP 7
(a) We will be using an extension package to make our servo move! Click on the Advance drawer and select extensions.
(b) In the search bar, type in continuous servo
(c) Make sure you select the correct one!
Materials
- 1 x micro:bit
STEP 8
(a) Plug a breakout board to micro:bit
(b) Plug in a continuous servo on pin 1
Materials
- 1 x micro:bit
- 1 x breakout board
- 1 x continuous servo
STEP 9
We will use the continuous servo blocks to code the servo to spin when button A is pressed and to stop when button B is pressed.
(a) Drag in an on Button A pressed block
(b) From the ContinuousServo drawer, drag in a spin one way P1 block

(d) From the ContinuousServo drawer, drag in a Turn off motor at P1
Note that in this activity, we will keep the servo's speed to the maximum. You can slow them down if you would like
STEP 10
Download the code into your micro:bit and we are done with the coding!
STEP 11
(a) Paste the servo at the base of the zeotrope
(b) Plug-in the battery pack
(c) Spin away!
Materials
